Birmingham is so hilly that it seems we don't bother trying to ride bikes much. Nevertheless I took the training wheels off of Max's bike a few months ago in hopes we would take the time to practice. Since a few weeks ago Max has wanted to practice every chance he gets. If I've been in the garage or outside he's been wanting to practice riding. After only a few attempts, he is officially a riding little 5 year old. We've gone to the park a few times to let him ride farther than he could in our driveway. He doesn't have his steering down but tries for all he's worth. Whenever I have to save him from a near crash he says "Sorry daddy, sorry. You know, sometimes people just make mistakes." Response, "I know Max, as long as you're trying your best, you're doing just fine." What a trooper.
